Citric Acid

Also known as: 2-Hydroxypropane-1,2,3-Tricarboxylic Acid

Citric acid is an AHA derived from citrus fruits, primarily used as a pH adjuster and chelating agent in cosmetic formulations. At low concentrations it adjusts pH rather than exfoliating. At higher concentrations it provides mild exfoliation. It also chelates metal ions, improving preservative efficacy and product stability.
