Glyceryl stearate is a mono-ester of glycerin and stearic acid, used as an emulsifier and emollient in creams and lotions. It has a low HLB value (3.8) making it suitable for water-in-oil emulsions or as a co-emulsifier. It also provides a smooth, non-greasy skin feel and mild emolliency. Derived from plant or animal sources.
