Exfoliant

Polyhydroxy Acids (PHAs)

Gluconolactone

Also known as: PHA, Gluconolactone, Lactobionic Acid

Polyhydroxy acids (PHAs) such as gluconolactone and lactobionic acid are next-generation exfoliants with larger molecular weights than AHAs. They exfoliate more slowly and gently, making them ideal for sensitive, rosacea-prone, or reactive skin. They also function as humectants and antioxidants. PHAs do not increase photosensitivity to the same degree as AHAs.
