Retinol

Also known as: Vitamin A, All-Trans Retinol

Retinol is the most widely used over-the-counter retinoid. It converts to retinoic acid in the skin through a two-step enzymatic process. It accelerates cell turnover, stimulates collagen production, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and treats acne. Causes initial purging and sensitivity. Should be introduced gradually and used with SPF. The gold standard anti-ageing ingredient.
