Titanium Dioxide

Also known as: TiO2, CI 77891

Titanium dioxide is a mineral UV filter that primarily protects against UVB and short-wave UVA radiation. It is photostable, non-irritating, and suitable for sensitive skin. It provides less UVA protection than zinc oxide, so formulations often combine both. Also used as an opacifier and white pigment in cosmetics. Nano-sized particles improve aesthetics but raise ongoing safety research questions.
