Tranexamic Acid

Also known as: TXA, Trans-4-(Aminomethyl)Cyclohexane-1-Carboxylic Acid

Tranexamic acid is a synthetic lysine derivative originally used medically to reduce bleeding. In skincare, it inhibits plasmin-mediated activation of melanocytes, reducing melanin production through a unique pathway. It is effective for melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and is well-tolerated by sensitive skin. A newer brightening active with growing clinical evidence.
