Also known as: Tocopherol, Alpha-Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate

Tocopherol (vitamin E) is a fat-soluble antioxidant that protects cell membranes from oxidative damage. In skincare it is used to stabilise formulations (particularly oils prone to oxidation) and provides antioxidant protection to the skin. Works synergistically with vitamin C. At higher concentrations it can be comedogenic for some skin types. The most commonly used form is alpha-tocopherol.
