Willow bark extract contains salicin, a precursor to salicylic acid. It provides mild exfoliation and anti-inflammatory benefits. However, the conversion of salicin to salicylic acid in the skin is limited, making it significantly less potent than synthetic salicylic acid. Useful as a gentler alternative for sensitive skin. Often marketed as a natural BHA.
